Hello Ramarkables!!
A lot has happened during the past month. Through this blog, you can pretty much catch up with what you missed from our Safety corner.
Let's start with February.
Mid-month of February, we started to roll-out our Safety Tags which is one of the highlights for our COVID Prevention Plan. This bracelet serves as a contact tracing for employees who became positive for COVID.
Through this tag, we can easily detect who are the individuals that came into contact with the person who is positive. Once we identified the people that came close with that person, we can immediately send them over to clinics to get them tested for COVID.
Next great news last February was the announcement of the government that they have started administering COVID-19 Vaccines to Food and Agriculture industry which falls under the Phase tier1B. Many have been anticipating the arrival of the vaccine. At first, it was tough since there were only limited vaccines and appointments get booked fast. But as days progress, and as restrictions slowly gets lifted, we get more supplies and more chances of booking our appointments. There were times that in the state of California they have offered thousands of vaccines in coliseums or stadiums such as in Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and Oakland Coliseum in Oakland.
But now that we have another vaccine that is available in our country which is Johnson&Johnson Janssen. Although, it was a recent addition to the already administered Pfizer and Moderna, the J&J vaccine only requires 1 dose while the other 2 requires 2 doses. However, it really depends on the individual and how their body reacts to the vaccine. It is a case-by-case scenario. We're just thankful that there's a vaccine which is a 50% chance to prevent the illness. Yet, it is still better to take precautions and still adhere to the CDC guidelines of COVID Prevention. If you have not gotten your vaccine yet, make an appointment as they tend to get booked fast. But besides the MyTurn website, there are other local pharmacies that offers the vaccine (Albertsons, CVS, VONs, Pavilions, Walgreens, Rite-Aid) just to name a few. Check the county website also since other clinics or hospitals offer them as well. Or if you have Kaiser Permanente, make sure you are registered under KP.org and go to the section of E-Visits and COVID-19 vaccine. There will be a short questionnaire that you need to answer. Follow the prompt and complete all the questions. Once it is done, you will not get an email right away from Kaiser; however, just keep checking your email as they tend to email their members and inform them that they have availabilities for an appointment.
And lastly, we have kicked off our used to be Safety Huddles into monthly Paylocity trainings. Everyone has access to their Safety Trainings via Paylocity. This will lessen congregation and we're able to maintain our social distancing.
